Tucson AZ - 3-27-2014 - Ascent Aviation Services Corporation (“Ascent”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Doan and Tom Henricks as outside directors to the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Doan and Mr.Henricks have extensive knowledge of the aerospace and maintenance, repair and overhaul (“MRO”) industries with over 70 years of combined experience. “Chris and Tom bring a wealth of experience to Ascent’s board and will be instrumental in driving operational and strategic initiatives as we continue to grow our business,” said Michael Melvin, Ascent President and board member.
Christopher Doan has over 40 years of aviation industry experience and is the Chairman and CEO of Team SAI. He has also served in senior level positions at Triumph Group, US Airways, Northwest Airlines, and Trans World Airlines.
Tom Henricks began his four decades in aerospace as a fighter test pilot in the U.S. Air Force before being selected by NASA to become an astronaut. He received worldwide recognition on four Space Shuttle missions and commanded two of those flights. He also served in senior level positions at The Timken Company, Bell Helicopter, and as President of Aviation Week.
The ASCENT facilities located at Tucson International Airport consist of 45 acres of concrete ramp, over 34,000 sq ft of hangar space along with 77,000 sq ft of backshop and secured consignment space in an ideal desert climate. The FAA, EASA, NCAA and AFRA Certified repair station specializes in B737 Classic, B737NG, MD80/90, B717, CRJ 100/200 and Airbus A320 (Limited) aircraft. Ascent performs heavy and line maintenance, modifications, transition, aircraft refurbishment, storage and reclamation services along with consigned part sales. Ascent’s workforce has completed more than 550 heavy maintenance and modification visits on B737, MD80 and CRJ100/200 fleet types since 2002.
